This was the first acrylic painting that I did in a serious way after retiring at 65. My niece was the sitter and has it hanging in her flat. I was and am still developing my own post impressionist style, which varies day by day according to mood and the subject. My intent is to create real emotion as did Van Gogh or Monet, my strongest influences. I love the works also of Manet, Gauguin, Matisse and hate the trend of 'conceptualism' where an unmade bed or pile of bricks can be idolised by the establishment because of one man's money.
